Well people voted for it, and usually once it gets its 4th vote it goes to the front page, no matter how long it has been after the original submission. However, it only has 3 votes and is now on the front page, while currently there is a story with 4 votes on the Newest China Stories page, and it has not come to the front page for some reason. Curious.

Hmm...do you really think a year and a half old story should be allowed on the front page? I mean, this movie is very old news.

Many 1-2 year old stories get front paged because someone finds them via the related stories link. Usually that causes no issue, but perhaps this is the exception to that rule. But then again, it is back in the news in North America, since it is just now available on DVD and Blu-Ray in Canada and America.

Just to follow up on this - I see the value in not allowing voting on old stories. They'll remain in the system, but there's no reason to be able to promote old stories, so I've set a year cutoff. If it goes a year without making it to the front page, it can't go to the show.

That sounds good. A year still sounds like a long time, but I understand the reasoning. It seems to me that if there's no new submittable news or blog related to this back-in-the-news item it's probably not worth the front page.
