Warriors of Heaven and Earth 天地英雄Arts & Entertainment

www.exploreasianow.comOne of the best Chinese movies I’ve seen lately, Warriors of Heaven and Earth, offers a unique story of adventure through the Gobi desert that will keep you entertained for it’s whole two hour duration. It’s full of great scenes taken in the deserts of Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China, and is action packed with realistic battle scenes. No wire-fu in this movie.

This is an older movie. But despite that Zhao Wei and Jiang Wen were awesome in this movie. Great epic plot harkening to the Yul Brynner era "Magnificent Seven", and Toshiro Mifune's "Seven Samurai"!

If I remember right, those scenes he's talking about in the Xinjiang desert were actually shot in the Ghost City on the edge of the desert here in Xinjiang. Really cool tourist destination to stop at on your way to Kanas Lake if you have a chance. It's the same place where scenes from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon were filmed.
