China, Coal, and Energy: Part I – China Environment
chinacomment.wordpress.com — From the 'China Comment' site: 'China needs and must use coal to satisfy its energy demands; at least in the near term. In fact, the entire World needs to use coal until more energy is produced using nuclear, hydro and wind…it might be interesting to compare America and China’s Coal use and to determine what is being done to mitigate China’s coal demand...'

You might find it interesting to break down coal consumption via coal tpye, and usage. For example coal used in a power station is very different from coal used in a municipal heating plant, and is very different from coal used in steel. Equally worthy of breakdown are regional sources and users of coal, there is a big locational split. Additionally, the amount of carbon capture is limited, where it is being utilised isn't necessarily at the power plant level, rather excavation and utilisation of power.
The MIT study is well worth reading, a good beginners introduction to a complex field.
Coal, a dirty business. Since I started importing it into China I've been sure to start a laundrette, with which to wash.
It always amazes me how much you know about the weirdest shit Alex -- and that's totally meant as a compliment. :-)
Jack of all trades, master of none. And I quite like it that way!
