China's Guangdong resumes week-long May Day holiday – China News
news.xinhuanet.com — China's southern Guangdong province will resume the weeklong May Day holiday this year in a bid to revive the economy. In 2007, China cut the May Day holiday from 7 to 3 days to ease overcrowded travel. The holiday will fall on May 1-7. Two days will be paid leave and local residents will have to work over the weekend of May 9-10. Chongqing, Hunan, Henan and Hangzhou also were considering resuming the weeklong holiday.
