Again, why the ...Gate name for scandals? Watergate was a hotel and the second half of the hotel's proper name should not be added to all scandals.

lol, nstanosheck. While translating this story, I was actually thinking of an earlier but similar comment you made about "gate." Obviously it is convenient to use the same word to denote scandals because then everyone immediately understands the connotations. And of course people are lazy. Before "gate" caught on in China, many significant events were referred to as "shi jian" (事件). The thought of translating that a hundred times gives me headache.

Finally, the popularity of "gate" sheds light on how "far-reaching" the Watergate scandal was.
