1 year 21 weeks 2 days 20 hours ago"Rape of Nanking" is a good read for anybody that doesn't know about what happened during the Japanese occupation, but you have to have a strong stomach to read it. It's too extreme to be made up.
In addition I don't think that it is a unique event. I believe you can find similar events throughout history. That does not justify it, but the Japanese (during that time period) are not unique in that they inflicted atrocities on people they saw as inferior.
