Nine Chinese oil workers have been kidnapped in Sudan, state-run media in China reported Sunday. The workers for the China National Petroleum Corporation were kidnapped by "unknown militants" in the Southern Kordofan state in central Sudan, the Xinhua news agency reported, citing the Chinese Embassy in Sudan.

Four giant panda cubs were born within 14 hours at a breeding center in southwest China, a mini baby boom for the rare animals, a state news agency reported Sunday.
