This sounds a lot like Firefox's Tor plugins. Still cool though. Neat to see how the information spreads via forums to other Chinese people wishing to see unfiltered info.

I'm really not a fan of Maxthon. It's got all the same bugs and cruft as IE, and still lacks a bunch of features that Firefox has. I've always wondered what would compell people to install something that shares all of IE's security holes once they've decided it's worth it to install a new browser.
Now I know.
