"According to informed sources in Henan, there was a large-scale student riot late night on June 15th at the Shengda Institute of Business Management of the Zhengzhou University located in Xinzheng city.

At its worst, almost 10,000 people were rioting. The students destroyed the university facilities and then marched onto the streets to vandalize street lamps and telephone booths, and they looted banks, supermarkets and electronic stores.

Civilian students at a Chinese military academy smashed windows and clashed with the authorities in protest over reports that their diplomas would not be recognized in the increasingly competitive job market, a radio station reported Friday.
