Panda in Shenzhen Zoo Sick, Hungry & Exploited – China Pics
www.chinasmack.com — A Chinese netizen is alarmed by the living conditions and treatment of an old giant panda in Shenzhen named Yongba. The netizen goes on the internet with pictures to share the story with other Chinese people and get attention, hoping to make a difference. Other netizens also report abuse of baby tigers in Guangzhou.

It's too bad that it took the mistreatment of a panda to get these people in China who posted on this topic to recognize the state of Chinese zoos. Compared to some of the stuff I've seen, that panda is still living in luxury.

Far West China Blog
An excellent example of how the Internet is filling the void that craptastic state-media misses. People having a voice, that's what it's all about.
I'd say craptastic media in general rather than state-media. I find American media to be very craptastic as well.

Yep, just different motivations. Media sucks in China due to control and censorship, media in the West suffers from CEOs and board rooms.
Shenzhen Daily has run a few articles proclaiming that the panda is healthy and happy and has never been mistreated. I still don't plan on taking a trip to that zoo.
