One sad thing about life in Beijing is missing American food. My boyfriend is sick of me hearing me tell him how much I miss milkshakes and bread. There is are a number of Western-themed eateries, Dairy Queen, a Sizzler (or two), Pizza Huts and of course ubiquitious McDonalds, in the city. And if you want coffee, there are a surprising number of Starbucks in the city.

For those of us living in more remote parts of China, Beijing is a rich, abundant, and diverse cornucopia of American food! Seriously, we go to Urumqi just to get cheese...
Haha, that's rough! I'm in Suzhou, no large city, but it's proximity to Shanghai and it's massive expat population assures that a trip "home" (so to speak) is only a Western supermarket away.
