A Total Solar Eclipse over Asia – China Travel
holidayfu.com — On the morning of July 22, a solar eclipse will darken skies over a large swathe of Asia. The eclipse’s umbra – an area of almost complete darkness, where the sun, moon and earth’s surface are perfectly aligned – will pass over north-east India, China’s middle and Japan’s Pacific Ocean islands.
Chengdu, Chongqing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai will all experience a total eclipse. The best place to watch the eclipse is probably Haining, not far from Hangzhou, where the largest tidal bore of 2009 will happen just a few hours after the eclipse.
