China vs America: a spontaneous superficial reflection – ESL Teaching
lossofmind.com — This morning I was informed, with ten minutes notice, that I would be giving a brief lecture on the differences between Chinese and American culture to students preparing to study abroad. I was told to make America sound attractive. Being completely caught off-guard by the request I mangaged to elucidate the following in a tongue-in-cheek manner to a totally unreceptive audience.

the captcha question asking something like "what color are the stars in the chinese flag?" doesnt accept "gold" as an answer? [sad face]
I had a 50/50 chance between yellow and gold. but after inputting gold and getting it wrong, I was robbed of the satisfaction of answering correctly with yellow because a new and less fun question presented itself in its stead! (less fun due to the hint.)
I also notices that the What is the capital f China question required me to write Beijing in lower case, but I have reported this directly to Ryan. So hopefully that is fixed now. Great upgrades Ryan!
Sorry about the Stephen. I've set it now so it can be either. The answers should be case-insensitive.
Just to confirm, you are both getting these questions when you login via the login page, and not on the submission page -- right? You're both Hao Hao Reporters, and so you should be captcha-free on the submissions page.
I was getting it when entering my profile.
RT @nstanocheck I was getting it when entering my profile.
I'm a haohao reporter too. I tried both Beijing and Guangzhou for that trick question but both didnt work :p
Pretty sure it was while logging in. I was just kidding btw so absolutely no sorry's needed (unless of course that wasnt a parapraxis and you were really apologizing to everyone that I am here. "Sorry about the Stephen").
Seriously though, any little glitch on my own site Id prolly want to know about and figured that you would too.
