According to the Shanghaiist, the China Daily has issued a damning verdict on the construction of the new 632 meter Shanghai Tower — soon to be China's tallest skyscraper. It says that with the new tower, "blind worship and race for skyscrapers has reached a new high" and that the 121 story tower will be a "milestone in turning Shanghai into a less pleasant concrete jungle".

The Shanghaiist reports on the city's newest and tallest tower - aptly named The Shanghai Tower. Upon completion (some six years from now) it will dwarf the Jin Mao (421m) and only recently built World Financial Center (491m) at a whopping 632m high over the span of 138 floors.

A man attacked two Americans at the Drum Tower on August 9, killing one and injuring the other. The man then committed suicide by jumping from the second storey of the tower.

Taiwan has revised its high-school history textbooks to show that Taiwan is an independent country and not part of China, media reports said Monday.

The China Times said that on the education ministry's order, the title of the national history textbook for high-school - to be used after the winter vacation - has been changed from 'National History' to 'China History'.

In this textbook, terms like 'our country,' 'this country' and 'the mainland' have been changed to 'China' to indicate that Taiwan is not part of China, the daily said.

ESWN has the translation of a Chinese blog report on the 'most awesome scavengers in history'. In the Guangdong city of Foshan, migrant workers are suspected of being hired by a development company to assist in 'relocation' of the residents that don't wish to move.

Though a pretty big claim, when a group of migrant workers can bring an apartment to its bare shell in under 30 minutes, all while the resident is watching hopelessly, the title of 'most awesome scavengers' might be quite fitting.
