Hey fellow HHReporters, just wanted to mention something that is likely strikingly obvious - we've upgraded/updated a few things around here. Changes include...
1) A new design. I wobbled over whether to change the design, but in the end, this layout has a lot more to offer. Check out the sidebar (now each menu is movable and collapsible).
2) More functions. Some things that are (soon to be) implemented are: RSS feeds for each category, sub-categories, private messaging, better security, more usage of avatars for things and a crapload more that I just can't seem to think of right now.
3) The HHR Committee. Ok, we'll come up with a better name than that. Basically, do to some great suggestions, I've decided to bring on a few people to act as moderators. As soon as I've more info about this, you'll have more info. Right now it's just being looked into.
Please bear with me while I sort everything out here. With all the changes, expect a few things to perhaps not be working as usual. If you happen to notice this, please send me an e-mail (Contact Us on the sidebar).
And as always, with all these changes underway, if you've any to add - please let me know.

Initially I thought having anonymous voting made it simpler for people to get involved with HHR - but issues have been raised about the quality of the 'published' links. What are your thoughts?

Voting...members only, I think.
Did you make over this site on your own or is there a new pligg template available?

I hate having to sign in to stuff. For example, I just spent 2 mins trying to remember my password so I could write a comment. Super Mafan...
But seriously, I think either way is ok. As HHR builds a bigger user base, restricting voting to users may be fine. But for now, while it's still in it's infancy, maybe you should allow anony-votes. Can't hurt, I don't think.
Nice design too by the way. Very sharp. :)

2 years 2 weeks 6 days 11 hours agoI've been voting anonymously since I first started using HHR (I just registered right now, actually). I'm sure that I've probably voted twice for stuff just because my IP address changed and I forgot that I'd voted before.
But I'd agree with pandapassport that at this stage, restricting voting to members might be enough to put off casual users before they're sucked in. But we don't have the stats on this end - is Anonymous casting lots of votes right now?
Also, this is some pretty impressive web-wizardry. I like the new look, too.

2 years 2 weeks 6 days 10 hours agoWish I could take the credit for the design, but aside from a few tweaks and colouring (I'm excellent at staying in the lines) the design credit is owed to Digital Nature (they have a link in the footer).
I think I'll resist changing the voting method for now, but it will very likely be on the table again as we grow.
You can check out (to a limited extent) the number of anonymous activity versus logged in activity in the HHR Live area (see sidebar). I think it lists for the last 24 hours or something.
