The following series of photos, taken from my new book of photography ‘CHINA: Portrait of a People,’ are what I personally consider the most beautiful sites of Old China; those remote villages that have yet to meet China’s wrecking ball, and a proud people contented to proceed with their antediluvian customs as they have for five thousand years.
I often show students some of my works in progress to help them appreciate the use of metaphorical/global thinking and the higher need for cultural information. I show them that basic communication is a breeze and does not require sophisticated vocabulary or grammar skills.
iJiang is the latest project from wahkiz, a developer on the modmyifone.com community. iJiang if said in chinese, sounds a lot like “love to talk”. And that is the whole point of this app. This app provides the essential chinese phrases for everyday speech.

Chinese artist Li Wei from Beijing started off his performance series ‘Mirroring’ and later on took off attention with his ‘Falls’ series which shows the artist with his head and chest embedded into the ground. His work is a mixture of performance art and photography that creates illusions of a sometimes dangerous reality. Li Wei states that these images are not computer montages and works with the help of props such as mirror, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatics.
