The 2009 Summer Davos will be in Dalian, again, having had it's inaugural meeting in the city in 2007 and moving to Tianjin in 2008. Xinhua hint it will be in Dalian in the future. Is China's 'New Champion' (the sub title of the meeting) Dalian?

Dalian's "International" Youth Hostel is not living up to its name and is denying access to foreigners. Racially spurred or just a silly law in regards to it being located on a navy vessel... we may never know. Apparently it's crap anyway - still, an interesting thing to find in as modern a city as Dalian.

Dalian continues to attract high tech industries with a new announcement that Intel will be further investing 2.5 billion USD into facilities in the Liaoning port city.

PetroChina, China's top oil and gas producer, has announced the discovery of a "very rich" oilfield at Bohai Bay near Dalian. With an initial daily output of 500 tons, the field is "the largest finding in China in the past 10 years".

A boy in China's northeast city of Dalian has shocked his mother after she discovered he earned 100 yuan (US$13) for being a henchman to a rich classmate.
