Tehran Uses China’s High-Tech Trucks to Squash Protests – General

My Chinese friend Grace is about the last person you would picture when you think about dissidents.

She isn't an artist or a lawyer, she doesn't know how to get past the great firewall (even though she wants to), and she definitely wouldn't be considered an intellectual (she's not stupid, but she avoids reading and writing at pretty much all costs).

Egypt's revolution united the people behind a single banner: Change. But the factors that brought all those people together were almost all foreign -- not the media and not spies per se -- but exploitative American politics and headlong Chinese development.

Several hundred people have gathered in the Kazakh city of Almaty to protest against what they call "Chinese expansionism".

But for the authoritarians in Beijing, the event offered an uncomfortable glimpse of their worst nightmare. Hong Kongers are again demonstrating that the bargain the Communist Party is trying to strike with the public, in Hong Kong and throughout China, isn't as sturdy as the Party had hoped.
