Definitely not an easy lifestyle out there, Josh...thank goodness they can somehow make up for it with great music, raucous parties, and good food. The people must be joyous, in their own way.

But I question this: had you not gone out there with your wife, and had they not acknowledged you as a foreigner with no designs on their womenfolk given that you have prior commitments, would they have been so willing to take you into their inner sancta. Moreover, would you have felt comfortable being there? You haven't written plenty of these sorts of articles, far as I can tell...

Interesting comments, Adam...I'll have to think that over. As for the womenfolk, I'm personally glad I was married because it wouldn't have mattered if I looked like Marilyn Manson, being the ONLY foreigner in my city garnered plenty of (one-way) interest.
