Trademark Dispute Blocks iPhone's Entry into ChinaTech-Web

www.tradingmarkets.comLet's just admit it: the iPhone will never officially come to China. The problem now? Hanwang Technologies registered the i-phone trademark in 2004 - it became effective in 2006. Ah the cruel ironies of Chinese copyright law.

China's trademark and patent laws are largely a joke - designed to allow unscrupulous people and companies to register other peoples trademarks and IPR. This is just one of hundreds of ways that foreigners are hampered in the China market.

I think Hanwang's just looking for a payout, and if Apple doesn't sort it out, perhaps the vendors will.
