Authorities sacked three officials who fed school children genetically modified rice in a test

Three officials who approved and conducted a controversial test of genetically modified rice on school children in Hunan province have been sacked.
The Ministry of Health had previously ordered China CDC to investigate whether dozens of children in Hunan were used in 2008 as test subjects in a US-China joint research project that included GM food Golden Rice.
Each of 25 families, whose children were fed 60 grams of the GM food "golden rice" in the study, received 80,000 yuan from local government authorities.

That will teach those officials for trying to decrease vitamin A deficiencies in impoverished populations. Shame on them.
