Starting (hopefully) tomorrow morning (China Standard Time) I'll begin my long talked about upgrade to Hao Hao Report.
There will be a few aesthetic changes to the design, a number of functional and feature changes and a massive amount of backend/under-the-hood changes that no one other than myself will likely ever see or appreciate.
To assure there is no loss of important data or submitted stories, I'll be putting the site "offline" from the moment I begin the upgrade to when I finish. I am hoping it goes quickly and painlessly, but have been doing this long enough to know that is rarely the case. As such, Hao Hao Report may be down for a couple days.
Apologies for the inconvenience of the site being down, but trust that it really is for the best. I'll be doing away with a lot of the legacy tech that frequently slows down the site and causes errors, and am pretty excited how the newly refurbished ship sails.
Should you happen to be reading this and worrying that content you just submitted or are about to submit, worry not -- if you're reading this and able to access the site, I've not yet begun the process and you're safe to continue to submit stories and add comments.
See y'all on the other side.

Hey Ryan,
kudos for the smooth update ; ) It seems quite faster on my laptop... not sure if it's because of the HHR updating or for some changes on the great firewall though ; )
I do have a (very) small suggestion: the "Categories" menu covers the three buttons on the right up corner making it difficult to read the menu. It's possible to move the tags on the buttons a bit down so that we can read it?
Hi Furio,
Can I ask what browser/OS you are seeing the Categories menu cover the three buttons? It should "drop down" when hovered over, but when inactive it shouldn't cover anything. I've tested the layout quickly in a half-dozen browsers, but maybe I missed something (I also didn't test it in any of the old IEs or the Chinese 360 browser, so maybe that's causing it?)

I've got the same issue. I'm using FireFox 13.0. It was doing it yesterday before I updated to the latest version.
Also, when viewing a profile, the profile buttons along the top run into the Categories dropdown/profile, submit, messages buttons.
Hate to say this, but me too - on Chrome :( categories button covers the top half of the three buttons below when inactive.
I did have the same issue also on Safari. But thanks to some techno wizard it has just been fixed. Good stuff ;)
Love this new look. and it seems to be faster and less clunky!
Yep, props to Nicki for bearing with me and helping me sort it out.
It was an issue with the font, something I'll have to consider a little more deeply when I have a moment. If anyone is still experiencing this issue (and you've cleared your browser's cache), please let me know.
Figured I owed you one after the face-melting black licorice :)
Hey guys.
The issue was on the last version of Firefox but now it's ok : )
